Introduced to New Zealand in 1891 the South American Tree Tomato underwent a Kiwi rebrand to become the Tamarillo. The now famous red variety was first bred at Māngere East in the 1920s, benefiting from Auckland’s fertile volcanic soil.

How to make a Māngere Lava cocktail

  • Brandy – 2 parts
  • Campari – 1 part
  • Tamarillo juice
  • Maple syrup – 1 part

Blend then strain a small to medium size tamarillo. Mix the brandy, Campari, tamarillo juice and maple syrup with ice and stir. Serve in a small, stemless wine glass.

Tip: vary the amount of tamarillo juice for personal taste.

Every artwork comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
