Batteries Not Included
Sculpture Series
Batteries Not Included is a sculpture series reflecting on childhood memory. Drawing from my youth in the 1970s through to the mid-1990s, each abstract piece mirrors the way recollection reshapes the past: partial, embellished, and reconstructed until what remains feels true. Over time, these fragments accumulate into a personal history, defining our sense of self.
The neon glow and pastel gradients of the materials evoke nostalgia for the era, a powerful emotion that carries us back across time. These pieces are not only meditations on memory; they hold the warmth and pleasure of formative years remembered, while raising quieter questions about how we reconstruct the past.
Dedicated to Joan Wadsworth (1937–2025).
